Submarine Systems for new line of yachts

Challenge

Nautor’s Swan approached Bowmaster in the early stages of a new yacht design. Three yachts had been ordered from the production boat builder with different requirements.

Nautor’s Swan specified a Submarine Deployment System for all three yachts, but the system needed to be removable in one of the yachts for racing purposes.

Solution

Bowmaster’s design engineers customized the patented Bowmaster Submarine System to fit the size and shape of the hulls. This included a 105kg (231lb) submarine anchor in each of the boats.

For the removable system the system need to be able to be disconnected and removed in a few hours for racing purposes. Once removed this space would be plugged with a lightweight insert to save weight.
Close communication with Nautor’s Swan allowed for innovative solutions to be developed.

All three systems were delivered to Nautor’s Swan in Finland on time for easy installation.

The inclusion of a Submarine Deployment System on these yachts allowed for a classic undisturbed bow. The clean bow is becoming a more desirable on feature on luxury cruising yachts around the globe.
