Classic yacht with a modern twist

Challenge

Nobiskrug approached the Manson Anchors team in search of two Lloyd’s approved Kedge Anchors for their new build M/Y Jamaica Bay. The Nobiskrug team had already designed and built anchor pockets for the yacht so the Manson Anchors team would need to work around these existing parts.

Solution

Manson Anchor’s design engineers worked closely with Nobiskrug to ensure the customized Kedge Anchors would fit the existing anchor pockets. When the anchor designs were finalised, Manson had discussions with Lloyd’s Register and Nobiskrug to ensure the modified designs met all rules and approvals.

Once the designs were granted HHP (High Holding Power) by Lloyd’s Register, the two Kedge Anchors, weighing 585kg (1290lbs) each, were fabricated by the Manson Anchors team in Auckland, New Zealand.

The custom anchors were shipped to the yard and fitted the pockets perfectly. Nobiskrug later approached Manson regarding a custom stern system for the award-winning M/Y Artefact.
