Challenge
When German Frers of Frers Naval Architecture designed this lifting keel ocean going sloop they required a submarine anchoring system to keep the sailing owners safe on their lengthy voyages.
While this was not a complicated job, in fact a standard submarine anchoring system, award-winning boat builders, Yachting Developments Limited, were keen to embrace new technology to fit the system into the hull seamlessly.
Solution
Engineers visited the site of the build and completed a 3D scan of the hull using a 3D scanner. This provided designers with precise specifications for building jigs to both design and build the system.
Having such accurate measurements ensured the flange was a perfect fit for install. This made installation a breeze, saving time and money.
The client was delighted, citing the system as “a work of art”.
