3 Submarine Systems for S/Y A tenders
Challenge
Bowmaster were approached by S/Y A’s owners’ team regarding a very high-profile series of projects. These projects were to be three tenders for S/Y A, owned by a Russian billionaire.
New Zealand based Lloyd’s Stevenson had been set the task of bringing the unique tender design concepts to life. These concepts included 2 limousines (SYA 2 and SYA 3), built using carbon-fibre and e-glass that would be used for transporting guests. As well as a high-speed tender (SYA 1) for exclusive owner use; this carbon fibre boat can reach 53 knots.
S/Y A features Submarine Anchor Systems so the tenders were to mimic this same system. All of the vessels have a very futuristic look, making the submarine system even more fitting.
The tenders were to be stored in custom tender garages on either side of S/Y A’s hull. These garages were built to just be big enough to house each tender, with only 50mm clearance. This meant the Bowmaster team had to be extra precise with dimensions for each tender and continuous assessment throughout the project.
Solution
The Bowmaster design engineers designed three Submarine Anchor Systems with 20kg/ 44lbs Submarine Anchors. Each system had slight adjustments depending on the exact shape of the tender hull. The speed of SYA 1 (up to 50 knots) was also taken into consideration by Bowmaster’s design engineers.
The systems supplied included full turnkey supply with locking stops, winches and Submarine Anchors.
The final designs were accepted by Lloyd Stevenson and then fabricated by Bowmaster. Everyone involved in the project was delighted with the final result of the project.
Visual aesthetics were a key part of this project, Bowmaster succeeded by providing a solution that maximised the aesthetics while also supplying safety and maximum function.
